Who are we?
Whanganui based Blackout Media Ltd has an extremely successful track record in New Zealand video production throughout the North Island and were one of the first (if not, the very first) to be funded by government agency Te Māngai Pāho to produce a purely online webseries ‘Hahana’, which, 4 years later has grown into the biggest Māori youth series/brand in Aotearoa with over 25 million views, 280,000 followers, and reaching audiences of all ages through Tiktok, Facebook, Instagram and Youtube.
We produced the first ever Reo-a-thon, a 12 hour livestream telethon style show with the goal of getting over 1 million comments in te reo Māori and we smashed it! As well as produced the first ever Hahana Awards show this year purely to celebrate and showcase our Māori Content creators success on Social Media racking up hundreds of thousands of views.
During lockdown we produced a ‘made for tiktok’ only series that garnered us over 140k followers on the platform within 6 months. Another first for a Māori video production company.
Needless to say, we like to lead in terms of ‘firsts’.
Not only that, Blackout Media has produced content for television, digital only networks, Social Media, Coorperations, organisations and businesses wanting to reach more of their audiences in innovative ways.
